My girlfriend went out to play poker tonight so I made a 10pm decision to go and catch a bass. I probably only fished for 45 minutes but did manage to grab one around a pound and a half. Pitch black night when the cloud came in. Quite eery too with the occasional flash of lightening! Fish took an XLayer on the drop.

I love those nights Ben. The muggy, deathly still, pitch black nights, with lightening flashing (preferably on the horizon rather than above me). It just feels fishy to me. I have made a number of 10pm+ decisions to head out. Did a random one last summer on a friday night. I'd been out for a meal and a few pints and was back in bed, but I couldnt sleep, so at about 1am I put some shorts on, grabbed my 6/7 fly rod and a Cats Whisker and walked down to the beach next to me (1 minute walk), and caught a schoolie! 20 minutes later I was back in bed, and slept well. I love living next to the sea!
