I've updated the information and rules to include the following about Gary:

What are the prizes?
Each member of the winning team will receive:
  • Your TLF profile name will be badged as '2017 Bass Challenge Winner'.
  • A small Gary Steere memorial trophy* for each member of the winning team.
*Gary Steere was a much loved member of The Lure Forum. Gary was tragically taken by the sea whilst fishing alone in 2015.

Luckily for you Ryan, Paul doesn't moderate this competition, and old softy Martin will accept that as a Bass of 70cm on his new flexi rules!

It's getting boring now Michael. I'm interested in furthering the forum, getting as many people involved in fishing in teams together and interacting on here. I had one person who wanted to take part before the end of the deadline, unfortunately once the teams were picked he was still left out on his own, hence ME asking for other entrants so he could get up and running. Honestly, your posts are like reading the comments section of the Daily Mail. You are right though, I am making rules, and adjusting them for the good of the comp. It's supposed to be a bit of fun mate or I can always stick someone else in your place for a quiet life :muttley:

Ryan, the same thing applies mate, technically you're way too late but if someone drop outs I can put you in.

You're doing a great job Martin and you're spot on its supposed to be fun. Maybe some people should put more effort into catching a bass for their team rather than moaning about how the comps run ;) Besides if you join late you're at a disadvantage right, some cracking fish registered already, turn up late and you may have missed your big girl.............

Apologies Martin.
I really appreciate all your efforts, and have no problems with how you run this comp, (which is brilliantly!)
I personally have little hope of entering a qualifier let alone being on the winning side, and only signed up to stop Tom Spires having any chance of being a winner................
I posted only in fun, and only in response to other relevant posts.
Seriously THE BASS TARDYS is the best possible name for team 15 though..................
If you don't know the word google tardy.......................not Daily Mail vocab!

Martin,

Apologies but I'm going to drop out if the competition. Given the changes to the forum and the way they have been made I just don't want to be involved.

Apologies to Nigel, Ali, Simon. First real outing this weekend if the weather plays ball, was really looking forward to this.

If all that is open on tinterweb is the intros and one tackle advice section, is it really necessary to go down the nicknames and false locations route? anything important/sensitive I post is still in the members only areas.

No one is shutting the comp down or there'll be blood! . I agree though, might be better discussed on a separate thread...although that will inevitably just disappear.
