would like to try one in comparison to the normal spool.
Maybe would even swop my new/unused rarenium spare spool for a shallow spool that fits my Rarenium. Any hints what spools are fitting from other shimano modells and where to buy them?

Tried looking at changing spools from another 2500 Shimano onto my Rarenium - no go the spindles were different so looks fairly proprietory ... best way forward is string and electircal tape to shallow up the spool or use 12lb mono backing :/

ok, downsizing to 3000 then? Want to use my reel in norway also and think the 3000SF* / 2500er sizes are too small for that area fishing.

PS tape will be the second choice, a friend might be able to make me a PP or teflon ring fitting into the spool...
we will see.

I use 12lb mono backing on the Rarenium 4000FA and find that hardly any is needed to slightly underfil with around 130-150 yards of 15lb braid. Wind on the mono until it just starts to obscure the colour of the spool metal underneath.
