Evergreen Bass SEIL Magic fluro, regardless of which knot I use.....it always snaps at the knot, even at 20lb rated  I'd much rather bend out some trebles than lose the whole shaabang
The Evergreen lure clips. Could straighten them by pulling line with hands. The Rapala 'Pro Guide' net and scale. Lasted about 20 minutes next to the sea before everything just seized solid then fell apart.
I would not say bad buys but more disapointing buys, like, Diawa Certate 4000, Powerline power shot braid, Hardy lightweight wading jacket.
Forgot about the Rapala braid I bought. I swear I spent more time knitting with it trying to get out wind knots than I did fishing with it. Swapped back to Fireline, not a single one, so it wasnt the reel.

I am shocked!

Bad buys? Honestly, cant think of any, some disapointing ones but you get what you pay for and sometimes you make bad choices. Spider Wire Fusion was THE worst braid ever made by a mile, but I think they dropped it after about one batch made.
Going back a few years now,Oakley polarised lenses.
Got some cheap ones from the old Harris Co for about £12.00 that actually worked.

I reckon you got a duff Certate Chris, I love mine to bits. And I thought the PowerShot braid was getting a lot of rave reviews. Are you giving your gear some unusual abuse?

No, I am really light on my gear.

The Certate was about two weeks old (and totally dry) The first time I used a surface lure the reel jamed solid. Every time the reel got dunked it got washed in luke warm soppy water -- then dried for a few hours -- then totally striped and rebuilt, But after six months use it feels like a very old reel.

Power Shot, I used the 20lb blue braid on a reel (Shimano Twinpower 4000) that I had been using .19 Power pro on for for several months. The first time out I was wading and the Power Shot would not load on to the reel properely ounc clicking the bail arm over -- I had three wind knots and a snap off in an hour. Moved to a rock mark where the same problems ensued. tried on four other occasions to use the Power Shot culiminating in pulling a small biy of weed from my plug -- then went to wind the slack line in to find that my Allbright knot had come undone (that has never happened to me in the past with any other braid. I have no problems with Fireline or Power Pro (.23 -- .19 -- .13).
I didn't think you were less than careful. Weird eh?
The 24Ib version of the Decoy Egg Clips is the single worst angling accessory I’ve come across

Earlier this autumn I had the blasted thing just straightened on me, which meant that a large mid double Zander was left swimming away with a jig in his mouth. To say I was not happy is a massive understatement.

I am just about to order some of the Decoy V snaps, have you had any experience with these different profile snaps etc :?:

Had my first double figure Zander in 1985 from a 'midlands' stillwater,in those days I used to use the 'diamond' snaps that Terry Eustace started selling :)

I was going to try those but after my less than positive experience with the egg snaps I’ve decided to stay away from them. Apparently they are made of the same type of wire as the egg snaps so I can't see them being much better.

Quantum make some links with the same sort of bend as the Decoy Egg snaps but longer in length that are very strong.

Lost acouple of expensive plugs last year when Decoy egg snaps opened out, never had that problem with JBs or the Quantum links.
mmm, the Decoy Egg snaps is all I use now, maybe its the size that you guys are using? Bob and me use them and really do give them some grief, I swear by them to be honest. I am using big ones though, like 45kg or something.

As for the V Snap Nick, they are very small, maybe ok for perch etc.

I have used the 18, 20 and 24Ib version and they are all absolutely useless for anything other than very light fresh water fishing e.g. perch fishing

If you use a 45kg (90Ib) version that should really be enough to stop a 30Ib coalfish so I can well believe you are happy with those :) :) :)

Thanks for the info on the V snaps I was going to order the size 1 but dont think I will bother now.
Has anyone tried the Evergreen snaps :?:
What about the Varivas :?:
I have tried lots of others etc but have been using the JB snaps for a couple of years I think now and they are great but I want to go lighter as I think they may be a bit 'bulky' with some plugs etc.
Owner do some of those coated ones but they look like a gimmick to me.
Nick, see my reply, 3rd post in this thread!

Only just started trying the Egg snaps and so far seem ok. Size 2's I think. Haven't hooked a biggy on them yet though. Although, thinking about it, I actually don't like them because the 'hook' on them is so small and rounded that it either won't turn in to smaller jighead or hook eyes - making them useless for anything but hard bodied lures.

The Evergreen one's I've actually never had a problem, although I have been using them mostly for lighter stuff so again probably haven't tested them to the limit yet.

The Owner 'Silent' (coated) ones do seem very good and strong. Only down side to them is that they're useless for lures or jigheads with small eyes - since the silicone tubing on them bulks them out to pretty much x3 thickness. It also has an affect on small hard lures with small eyes as I don't think it allows them to move properly in the water - they stick to the silicone slightly so can become dead on retrieve. Not all the time, but enough to get noticed.

The 'New' small sized Rapala split ring pliers.
Totally useless and a waste of money,Shi*t.
