Went out in Bideford Bay this morning for first light. Nothing was doing for the first 30-40 minutes, but then a whole load of fry turned up with the mackerel in tow.

Managed about a dozen mackerel over the next couple of hours, as well as a couple of school bass and a scad. Most were taken on an xrap sxr10 blue and white, with the rest taken on a small dexter wedge.

There were a few garfish in and around the bait fish, and some bigger ones (up to about 18inches) following my lures, but none were willing to strike them.

For once the water was clear and it was fun to see the mackerel swarming around the rocks chasing the fry. Hopefully if they stick around a while it'll attract some bigger bass...
