Just recieved the latest copy of Sea Dangler through the post, looks like it's in the shops from the 23rd. Basswalker is in there again, with his pb lure-caught Bass, at 4lb 7oz :laserswords: !!!! Luke landed him on a Feed Shallow Green Sand-Eel on a session down West with Tim & George (many thanks for the assistance with Luke that day Tim  ). Luke also caught his 1st lure caught Bass that day, on a Tide Minnow D99 Holo Sandeel (which he lost on a nice fish which took him into the rough-stuff about 5 mins later . .. .. . . . Mick, you may remember kindly giving that lure to Luke in your shop - i've replaced that lure 3 times already) !!

Also, a cracking article on lure Bass fishing by Henry, with a pic of the lesser-spotted-greater-crested-german-spitty !!!! Nice pic Tom !!!

The pic of Luke that made it in (my fault, the pic didnt do the fish justice - got the wrong angle :bangin: ). . . .

Well done Luke, great to see you doing so well. My son Brennan who is 7 is looking forward to having a go with the lures, so far we have just caught mini species off a couple of piers but next year will hopefully come and get some tips off you.
Well done :jump: :jump:
Awesome Luke and Simon, I am looking forward to getting the mag now. Dont be hard on yourself Si its a good picture, better than a garden or kitchen bass anyday mate.
The next generation of bass fishers is looking strong I feel......BASS & Sea Dangling.....world domination next, fish on young Luke :horsesword: :horsesword:
Congrats on getting another pic published Luke! That was a good day out - warm, calm and the bass were biting. George & Luke outfished us both. Boys 5 : Dads 2 as I recall :badlol:
I have to say it was a pretty even fight Luke had on his hands - I grabbed hold of him round the waist as I think, as it looked like the bass might have pulled him in :muttley: Super, super fish though from what turned out to be the hot spot of the day. FISH ON!
Great going young jedi knight .. :laserswords:

You certainly got the gift to kick bass :muttley: Congratulations on making the Sea angler pages ..

A true legend in the making .. :aarrg:

Hmmmmmmm??? could that be a distance thing i wonder??? as i know that hitting big(ish) distances whilst beachcasting, doesn't always seem to be the best option

i've had some great fish very close in on numerous occasions, and in an open comp last year, i decided to change to a size 2 flapper rig with thumbnail size pieces of mackerel, cast out no more than 25 yrds, (as we'd all been blanking, casting at full whack for 3 hours) and it resulted in me coming 2nd with a 7lb Conger in the comp. :jump:
Good lad!!!! Catching a lot more than we do around here!!!

Marc, good theory but not on this occasion. For a start, George casts at least as far as me with his BushWacker, and in fact Luke's fish was hooked a fair way out. Si and I also had hook-ups from the same spot, although Si dropped his fish and I landed one and droppped one. It was a mad 10 minutes as we even had a double hook-up - me and George. Luke played it so cool though. I was chatting with Si and we just heard the now legendary cry: "Fish On!". As I say, I held onto him and he hauled it in single-handedly. It was a cracking fish, regardless of being 8 years old or not. Well done Luke - roll on September again I say!!
Yep, distance wasnt the key that day, but Luke did outfox me a couple of weeks later, when he nailed the biggest of the day (around 3lb's), on a short 15yd cast on a Maria Chase, while i was lobbing my Zonk out around 40 / 50 yds !! It aint all about long distance with Bassing, that's for sure. All my better fish have been caught within 20yds of the shore this year.

I had my back to him that day, when he cried "FISH ON !!!!" :muttley:

Next time we go fishing I will be asking Basswalker for his advise on lures and not yours :badlol: Maybe I will start catching then

I know that at most of the places i fished when i first started plugging, all i seemed to do, was to get the lure as far from the shore as possible,

but now, i think that i would approach the same marks in a totally different manner, such as using "parallel casting" especially when out on a point, surrounded by "white water" and also try fishing the gullies that maybe filling up just behind you..

but i think i'll need a little bit of tuition from young basswalker, for next years welsh meet, (COS HE IS DA MAN!!!.. :D )
Well done indeed!

The juniors are doing soooooooo well :)
