Hi Guys,

I'm looking for some new braid for a new reel but I'm getting a bit confused about braid diameters.

I want to use Yamatoyo SW Super PE and/or Powershot straight through without any backing on a 2500 size Cormoran reel that has a stated capacity of 125m of 0.25 line. Which weight/size Yamatoyo and Powershot would fit this reel with the required 1-2mm underfill? I'm not too worried about breaking strain as I just want to fill the spool properly.

Alternatively, does anyone know or have a link to the corresponding PE sizes in mm? 1.5 PE is equivalent to what sixe in mm?

I would also be interested in what size of these lines would fit nicely, without backing, on a Shimano Exage 4000, though I may well stick to Power Pro 0.19 on this reel due to the extra capacity.

Many Thanks,
Tony.

Tony,
PE Diameter mm
0.8 0.148
1.0 0.165
1.5 0.203
2.0 0.234

Breaking Strains 8 strand (approx)
0.6 10lb
0.8 12lb
1.0 16lb
1.2 20lb
1.5 25lb
These breaking strains are averages, some braids are strongers, some a bit weaker.
Hope this is of some help.

Excellent! That's a great start. I'll have to add this page to my favourites.

Now, if anyone can suggest what would be the appropriate size braid for general bass plugging with a Cormoran/Daiwa 2500 reel I would be most gratefull.

I'm thinking that 1.0 or 1.2 PE should be fine for the 2500 but I might need to go heavier for the 4000.

Thanks again Dave, you're a star.
Tony.
