Have just caught the end of a programme called Great British Railway Journeys on BBC2 presented by the accomplished Knob Michael Portillo, he was on a beach with a local Gill Netter who had caught about 8 Bass, all looked just about in size to me, the Netter went on to say that his net did not trap the juvenile fish so, a big well done on that one. What boiled my piss was the comment Portillo made at the end of the inerview,he said he can see Bass becoming the favourite fish in this country and overtaking Cod, doesn’t his researchers do any researching Cos if they did they would know how under pressure our Bass stocks are :x

Sorry about the RANT but I needed one :bangin:

Bass the New Cod

Last Night I watched a program on TV called Great British Railway Journeys (BBC 2) presented by Michael Portillo (ex Conservative MP) who stated that Bass could be the new Cod. He meant as the fish of choice to eat, and not as a whipped out species.

Lets face it we all love catching Bass ((the only fish in my waters that fights better are Mullet, (if you catch a 3lb Mullet on a Lure you will swear that is a Bass of 6lb)) because it is a great fighting fish -- but there are a lot of other fish that make much better eating ((IMHO Black Bream, Red Mullet, Mackerel, Snipe (Garfish) and the Ballen Wrasse (especially with corriander in fish cakes)).

Rant over :bangin: :bangin: :bangin: :bangin: :bangin: :bangin: :bangin: :bangin:

Actually, I WILL BE BACK.

I missed that m8. I'll bet others did too.

I have merged the 2 threads as it is the same topic.

Ok.

See first post for amendment in the footer.

I will delete 'this' post later.
Fine by me Keith,
