Theres a fair chance most peeps carry a camera with them out on their sessions, any advice on type etc. Ideally to suit different budgets. And especially what to store them in.

ive been using an 8meg hewlett packard digi for about 4 years, nice and compact and has stood upto some abuse, cost around £280 at the time, but seen better cameras with 12meg for £80!!! until it packs in ill carry on using it!!!!
I've been using a Pentax Optio S5i for the past few years, and it's been a cracking little bit of kit.

But for Xmas, i'm having this . . . http://www.camerabox.co.uk/product.asp? ... 4wodNBQVlg

It's 12MP, waterproof to 3m, shockproof. Looks built for fishing.

Ordered it last Thurday afternoon (3:30pm), and it had arrived by 11am the following morning, for less than £200 delivered !! (£280 in Comet, £233 in Amazon, £370 in Jessops  ). Gets a great write-up here http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/Q209wat ... page17.asp

I bought a Canon Power Sot D10
it takes great pictures and can be used under water to 10m
It is a 12.1 mega pixel.

here are a couple of pictures it has taken.

Most of them will do it. You just need to select 'Macro' mode (it's the icon with the little flower).

I took the photo below with my current Pentax Optio S5i in Macro Mode. It's a 5MP camera which has long since been superceded. Some of the other camera's in that range are available on Amazon for around £70 with 7 - 10MP . . . .

Take a look at these . . . .

Really? I have an old Olympus 6mp cam and on all 3 macros choices it's rank with close ups. It must be me.

Pretty easy . . . i just sat the plug on the top of my (closed) laptop . . which is black - that looked good. I then used Photoshop to select the background and blacken it further.

Ah ok, thanks. I've always wanted Photoshop but its like £300 odd quid isn't it and I'd probably end up throwing my laptop out the window because I wouldn't be able to get the hang of it. Bit like that awful Excel program. And clingfilm. Clingfilm is the work of the devil as far as I'm concerned.

Ummm , slightly off topic there, Basso!

Nah . . . that's the Pro version for Arty-types & people with pony-tails. This version is all you need . . . .
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Adobe-Photoshop ... 196&sr=8-2

£40 . . sorted !!! Easy to use too, and probably a few on here could help you !!
Took the FT1 on hols last week, and tried out the underwater feature. Ok, i know it's only in the hotel pool, not the sea, but it was the saltiest eye-stinging pool i've ever been in, so a reasonable initial test of it's underwater credentials . . . . . .

Not bad for starters i rekon !!!

Took some vids underwater too, but my pc can't seem to process them at the moment - looks like i need some additional piece of software ??

   I'd have been disapointed had i not teased a comment out for that !!!

A fine figure of a man !!!! :wackit:
Some (not me of course) would say a "fine figure of several men"! Why else do you think you couldn't get your lap table down on the airplane :muttley:
Only kidding Si - that's a fine "Welsh" physique you have and I am working in mine as we speak. Be good to see if you can get some underwater shots of some bass this season - adds another dimension doesn't it?

Yep, that's what i'm thinking. I'd love to get some underwater shots of the release . . and maybe some general Bass activity shots if i can find the right spot. I can see me sticking my mask & snorkel in my backpack on the nicer days.
That mark where I first met you & Luke would be ideal over the summer if and when the water is clear (which it was quite a bit last year to be fair). At high water slack there would be some really interesting snorkelling/photography opportunities in some of those gullies...
The Camera I am using does not have a name on it, but it is dark brown and made of wood and canvas with a glass lens and glass slides.
