Apologies guys for the late posting but I wasn’t joking when I said I was returning home to a weeks heavy decorating…….PHEW!! Glad that’s fecking over…for now.

Anyway as many of you will know I started my first visit to Cornwall in exactly the same way as I ended my last Visit to Wales…………..On the back of a p*ssing tow truck….. Am thinking of buying one to carry the Disco so it doesn’t happen again.

Anyway as always there a huge thanks required for all the guys involved in organising the weekend. Including the usual suspects Nathan, Mike, Rob, Ian, Paul etc etc… Thanks guys….who was in charge of the weather??? Well whoever it was thank you for making us from oop north feel welcome by laying on snow and strong winds. It were reet grand as they say and fecking cold just as we like it……

It was great to meet all the regular crowd Simon, Steve (with plastic friend) Jon, Tracey and George, Robf, Adam, Luke, Matt, Rob, Nathan ………….the star of the show......

And to meet new friends Andrew, Enrique (now top cricket fan), Jonathan, Kevin, Toby, Ian…..and a few more my drunken brain could not remember..sorry fella’s. We must remember to make more time for socialising even though Saturday night was a hoot. It would have been nice to have the chance of a beer with a few more of you guys.

Saturdays fishing was cold and hard work in the conditions but I have to admit I’ve never seen a bunch of anglers fish so hard in the estuary section and not catch…… we threw everything at them but the cold got the better of us.

They guys on the rock section faired better and I think 3 or 4 fish were caught..(jammy beggars) Obviously better anglers…… In the afternoon at another rocky mark we were able to turn the tables when I managed a nice plump 50 cm fish of the surface with a Pearl Patchinko just as the light was failing and the Gannets were stopping diving. It gave me a cracking fight and a big thanks to Matt Arnold for coming to my aid. Only to see his rod washed off the rock we were standing on after he’d put it down to measure my fish. Lucky I’d spotted where it went because he was ready to dive in after it.. even in the cold conditions. I almost held myself back from telling you mate in the hope of seeing a double twist with pike dive that you looked like you were preparing for……
Cheers again Matt, I think we’d have all been in the water looking for the rod if it had disappeared mate….

Saturday night was the usual ball and great company. Steve..I guess you’ll have broken your little plastic friend by now mate….. but have to admire your technique….. you were a blurr….. And Nathan I still think there were gay intentions when you almost pulled that guy’s trousers down at the bar. As much as I hate to see the trend of undies and bum cracks on display I have never had the urge to pull any ones pants down especially that guy… he looked as bent as a nine bob note as we say oop north….. I think the saying “ You’d have got more than you’d have bargained for” would have been particularly apt had you gone through with it……..
Still, that’s not as bad as a certain person stalking through peoples bedrooms in the middle of the night pretending to be looking for the toilet. Rob the look on your face when you realised what had happened was priceless. Just remember next time Steve might be awake and ewe could be his little lamb for the entire night……..

Sunday took us out some where towards Lands End and some of the most stunning grounds I have ever seen.

It was cold and bright and a pleasure just to be there. Again everyone threw all they had at the fish, hard plastics, soft plastics, surface lures, sinking lures, suspending lures and yet as fishy as it looked only a few Pollock and Wrasse were caught by the early risers and the last man off the rocks Andrew Walker.

One bass was caught by Simon Lewis, who, as I was completing the 3 mile over the top of the world trek (well… I’m an old man and it felt like it.)

I was lucky to see him get hit on the surface by a lovely Shirley which I managed to film…will post it on you tube when I get back Si I can’t do it from out here… after a first class job of landing the fish by Luke Lewis (second time anyway) we measured it at 47 cm.

We didn’t catch anymore that day but I have to say what fantastic fishing grounds…Nathan and Rob thanks for sharing this with us we were all very impressed with the mark and weren’t the slightest bit bothered that the fish hadn’t turned up. I had a great time for my first visit to Cornwall and thanks for making us all feel welcome.

The good news for me was that I had managed to fluke the best Bass prize… must have been too many poor anglers is all I can say…….

Cheers again Nathan the hip flask will definitely be getting some use over the winter months.

Cracking report Trev, great to meet up with you again and have a laugh, the sheep is intact and ready to shag another day:wink: How Andrew managed to get it into my room is beyond me :p Great effort from Nathan, Rob, Nick and Matt to keep us all happy. The Cornish bumble needs to be an annual event, but maybe held a bit earlier
