This arrived yesterday :)

http://www.plat.co.jp/shop/catalog/prod ... -70ms.html

Soft plastics rod coming in at 7ft and weighing just 125g.

Tried it last night for a pollack with a weightless SP and it felt superb casting, very fast action tip so it flicked the 8g SP out no problem. (see CI catch reports for detail on the SP i'm currently using).

Despite the nasty wind I could feel the lure moving round with just a very slight bend in the tip and was dead easy to just give it a flick to re-align the lure with tide. Hard to get it to depth with the wind but felt good. Fishing with no link and a size 1 texas hook it was very slow sinking and almost suspending at about 5ft. perfect!!

the fish didn't play ball but at least I got a quick hour in.

Just need to sort the reel now as the 4000 twinpower was a bit heavy really.

Look forward to catchign a fish on it!!

I forgot to mention...

Top marks to Plat in Japan if you have not used them before, it was so well packed it took me ages to get into it.

First I had to get into the heavy duty drainpipe it came in...

Then I had to get the rod bag out of 3 layers of bubble wrap. Excellent, now I can see it...

Then I found that each section was seperately wrapped in bubble wrap inside the rod bag.

Blimey!! No chance of that etting bust on the way over. Which took 8 days.

It certainly looked like a very versatile rod in the dvd and good value for the money too. Could it be a cheaper alternative to the Injection?
How much did they charge you for shipping?
It was JPY18,720 for the rod (Xmas discount) and JPY3,700 for postage. I ordered other stuff as well so can't tell you the actual GBP paid.
I was being lazy before...

The rod comes out at about £125 and the postage by courier £25.

So how many red injections can I have for that??

Sorry but the red ones are beyond my budget, even my credit card one and I can have 3 of these and change for the same price. OK, so I know the Tenryu is supposed to be the best of the best but i'll settle for my Astra over the Ferrari as it does the job I need it to do and feels like it does it very well. Roll on a fish.

Just something for those of us less well cash endowed. :D

Those DVD's are great, having said that all the gear on those dvd's look great but then I suppose thats the point. The "Seabass DayGame 2" is my favorite I with all the under water footage of the bass takes, still have not watched the "Light Rock Fish" dvd.

Hope you enjoy the new rod, will be interesting to see how it goes.

Did you not get charged any import tax or vat or Parcel Force clearance fees on top of that, mate?
Nope, no additional fees, but I am in the CI so maybe it's different to the mainland with the taxes as it's just "passing through" the mainland.
