Hello everyone.

I am in need for a smaller and lighter reel than my TP 4000 FB, to pair up with my Gloomis SJR 783 and my LC ESG I.

I've been thinking about the Shimano Rarenium 2500 which seems to be a nice reel and quite light, but I have come across sites advertising the 3000 size has having more line capacity than the 2500 and in the Normark/Shimano catalog (Portugal and Spain Shimano representatives) they advertise the 2500 has having more line than the 2500.

So my question to the guys who own Rarenium's is, does the 3000 have more line, or does the 2500 hold more line?
I think the 3000 has that shallow spool and less line, but I really want the one with more line capacity of both.

Thanks!

Cheers from Portugal!

I have the 3000 Rarenium Pedro. I can fit a full spool of 130m of 0.11 Power Shot onto it, with a nice fill level. I havent seen the 2500 so cant comment on it's real-life capacity.

In the catalog they say the 2500 fits 0,25mm/160m.

My goal is to fill +- 150 or so of Power Pro 10 lbs (0,15 mm), because here we never know when a big meagre shows up and start making a no line run lol

dont take the shallow spool versions.
I found this
Rarenium CI4 FA - 170g
Ref: SHIM RARCI41000FA
Gear Ratio 5.0:1 - Line Capacity 4lb/140yds
Rarenium CI4 FA - 200g
Ref: SHIM RARCI42500FA
Gear Ratio 5.0:1 - Line Capacity 6lb/140yds
Rarenium CI4 FA - 200g
Ref: SHIM RARCI43000FA
Gear Ratio 5.0:1 - Line Capacity 10lb/100yds

Rarenium CI4 FA - 260g

Ref: SHIM RARCI44000FA
Gear Ratio 4.8:1 - Line Capacity 12lb/160yds

and afaik are the 3000er reels the same body like the 2500, only with more line capacity.

Like shown here for the Stradic:
.................................................. .....Line capacity....Max drag.....Weight

Shimano Stradic 2500 - ....................8lb/140yd...........7kg...........269g

Shimano Stradic 3000 - ....................8lb/170yd...........7kg...........269g

Cheers
Thomas
