Hello guys..

What is this ?

Well, It is essentially the art of squid fishing with lures or, Egi's (pronounced..EGG - EE) and Eging, (pronounced EGG - ING) is the 400 year plus form of manipulating these lures developed by the Japanese and embraced far afield today but still mostly around Australasia.

This is all set to change...

It involves multiple techniques for Squid and Cuttlefish, day or night.

Many of us are graced with fantastic Squid (IKA) fishing at various times of the year and there is much to discuss and understand.

This section is for those interested in pushing forward this art form of fishing for Squid.

I am always going to have some Egi's and jigs with me all year round from now on. There are some places in the summer that I know there are alot of cuttle fish hanging around in the sand as I used to see loads of them when I was snorkeling. All the info that comes on this new section is going to be really useful I cant wait to see what we start finding out

Mick, I have had 2.5lb Squid on the Rod Bar so wait until we are landing them on Injections and Ito Cranks.

There seems to be some myths locally about squid fishing -- in that it has to be dark, you have to be by a good light sauce and your Egis have to be moving through the water, well that is true for the majority of the Squid fishing in the magical period (first 14 days of the season), but, Squid can be caught all year around. I have caught Squid while float fishing for Garfish and Mackerel or Plugging for bass during the middle of the day and the middle of the summer. I have also caught Squid while plugging for Bass during the winter on rock marks that are pitch black, and my friend Norman and I have been Squid fishing static bottom rigs for three years -- this method usually lands the bigger Squid.

Hi Dave,
I know Mick at MrFish did have some of the better squid jigs in stock, Check out the link to his website on the index page-Might be worth giving him a call, as I am not sure if the jigs are on the website.

Dave,
Yeap Mick is a first rate Guy, and stocks way more gear than his website shows. Always worth a phone, if you are looking for something "different".
