Elusive Manx trout??

Arrived in the lovely Isle of Man last Sunday and have been out fishing 3 times. Fished the point of Ayr twice absolutely smashing spot,, however saying Im a tad frustrated is a understatement,, the last two times Iv fished it Iv lost a total of 6 fish, 4 today while I was out for a quick session. Im using a small maria lure works excellent for sea trout at home.... hooks are razor sharp and the lure landed every sea trout it hooked while I was home last!!

Have any of ye manx lads on here been fishing this point lately and if so had much luck? I was told that coalfish can be caught there spinning but my gut feeling is that its sea trout I keep losing.

Also when do the bass start to appear on the North beaches to lures?

And could someone recommend a decent tackle shop on the Island.

Cheers.

What do you require to purchase from the tackle shop, bait, lures ???

What state of the tide are you fishing???

Erm... no!

Welcome the most beautiful of the British Isles! Perhaps not the most fishy though...

I will second that, our tackle shops are a bit cr4p, we need a Mr Fish IoM Ltd
I heard the cr4p tackle shop in Port Erin is shutting down, haven't been to look 'cos there's nothing I want in his shop. He has/had a strange philosophy where he just bought and the cheapest, nastiest tackle you could imagine... Mind you, you could sell on knackered rods there!

Anyway, enough of the doom. Jbarry, where are you based while your here? We can try to help with what limited resources we have...
Alright lads nothing urgent needed in the tackle shops just a look really..... Based in Ramsey for the next 6 weeks getting a project done for college while im here, there is some really nice deep water rock marks around ramsey do ye do any pollack or wrasse fishing, looks perfect.

At the moment Iv been fishing the Point on a dropping tide seems to be plenty of fish there just cant seem to get them in and I dont understand why they seem like solid hook ups :-x

Have any of you guys been out much lately?
James I live in Ramsey, give me a call for a chat & I might be able to help you with a few marks. I will PM you my telephone numbers.
