I was at La moye on monday morning , my m8 got there at 7am and me 8.30am and we fished untill 11am
Over that time I easily saw a few hundred caught by about ten peops , me and my m8 both got a good feed of them for myself and to give away as family, neighbours and friends always like the first of the year nice and fresh.
My m8 was fishing normal 6/7 feathersand big rod and I was using 2/3 feathers on my beast master spinning rod as like a bit of fun rather than just winching them in - the biggest I got was 1.2lb and the smallest that went back about 8"
I have never been down La moye before and dont think will be going again as it not going to be a nice place to be as all the rocks are covered in rubbish, and I mean covered allready and the mackeral have only been there about a week, and can see that its going to get very busy and can see there would be a few disagrements with others regarding rubbish and fishing space and methods of catch and dispatch - Seen a few rods with 20 feathers on and near getting full sometimes.
I will be looking forward to hooking into a few more mackeral on light gear as has been the way for me for past few yrs as much more fun and you can still catch a fair few if you wanting some keepers - just wont be at la moye which is a shame as looks like would be a nice place if respected.
