Not much to get excited about but it might be of interest as it may mean the Bass will follow.

Out with Derek Buesnel for a couple of hours this afternoon and had enough mackerel for a feed just off Corbiere also catching stacks of sandeels at the same time.

Mackerel LRF here we come....
Smoking drags....Ahhh
Had my first one on the LRF rod last week. Was a fun fight, even though it was only a small one.

I was at La moye on monday morning , my m8 got there at 7am and me 8.30am and we fished untill 11am

Over that time I easily saw a few hundred caught by about ten peops , me and my m8 both got a good feed of them for myself and to give away as family, neighbours and friends always like the first of the year nice and fresh.

My m8 was fishing normal 6/7 feathersand big rod and I was using 2/3 feathers on my beast master spinning rod as like a bit of fun rather than just winching them in - the biggest I got was 1.2lb and the smallest that went back about 8"

I have never been down La moye before and dont think will be going again as it not going to be a nice place to be as all the rocks are covered in rubbish, and I mean covered allready and the mackeral have only been there about a week, and can see that its going to get very busy and can see there would be a few disagrements with others regarding rubbish and fishing space and methods of catch and dispatch - Seen a few rods with 20 feathers on and near getting full sometimes.

I will be looking forward to hooking into a few more mackeral on light gear as has been the way for me for past few yrs as much more fun and you can still catch a fair few if you wanting some keepers - just wont be at la moye which is a shame as looks like would be a nice place if respected.

Dave it is a great place to catch mackerel and you are right it is such a shame it gets distoyed this time of year. I know one bloke that fishes there that caught 22 mackerel at once on 24 feathers!! Its crazy. Fair play to you with using the plugging rod, I was plugging down there years ago and for the crack I put on a set of 5 feathers and a Flashmer as the weight, I had six mackerel on a 10 Abu plugging rod and 14lb Fireline, they went like a steam train, great great fun.
