A quick question to the more knowledgable Tackle Guru's.
I am looking at a rod for bassing, now it states that it is fitted with Fuji SiC guides, now are these titanium or not. Sorry to sound a bit vague, but that is all the info I have at the moment.
Cheers to any info you can provide,
Tunny

Not necessarily. They SiC refers to the liner. The carrier will be Stainless or Titanium.

Thanks Guys,
Is there any way of telling them apart on a rod, colour or a part number stamped on them or whatever. I just want to be very sure the guides are Ti. Before parting with the cash.

Visually I could tell the difference but to describe it 3rd hand and be sure, don't know. Titanium is however a darker metal, sort of got a lead apperance, stainless is stainless and looks like cutlery. I don't know if Fuji use the same carrier but change the metal or they have distinctly different carriers for different metals. Would be worth knowing full stop I guess.

If the rod is using single legged titanium guides they are normally either TYSG or TLVSG, which have chrome frames with black SIC inserts.

If the rod is using single legged stainless steel guides they are normally either YSG or LVSG, which have gun-smoke frames with black SIC inserts.

Then you have the ICYSG, which has a titanium covered stainless steel frame with black SIC insert.

Its a dick that titanium isnt magnetic, then it would be easy. I always thought the dark eyes on the Dragon were titanium, but they are indeed stainless. Is it toiotally nessisary Dave that you have titanium eyes? They stainless ones are very strong and light anyway.

No not 100% required, but would like to know what I was being offered. I guess if it says Fuji SIC then they are probably Stainless, unless it states Ti.
Frankly if the stainless is good enough for Tenryu, It will be good enough for me.
