Fun Rod and Pollack

Been looking for a fun rod to do some SP work for pollack with for some time.

Purchassed a Cormoran ITO CRANK 10--30g 8' long. Well it was 8' long until I thought I had my hand around the leader when getting a fish out of the water, now its 7' 8'' , But it casts better now.

Went to our local harbour and had two hours of great fun catching Pollack up to 2lb 8oz on 10g jig heads with White Quantum Freddie Shads and Sidewinder Shimmer Eels.

Hi Chris, I had my first fish on my Comoran TR4 the other day and it was a nice pollock, it went really well! I was fishing at Bon nuit with a sidewinder. I also purchased the anyfishanywhere estuary rod you suggested and I love it so cheers for that.

We've been playing with the Pollack and Pouting on float/spin jigs

look here http://www.jerseybassguides.com/bas...-jig-spin-fly-the-start-of-the-learning-curve

Sure is fun.

We have a few SP trips planned and we will continue with the Pollack a bit more too.

Is fun.

Hi Ritchie,

How did you get on at Big Verns last Sunday, My Mate and I blanked at the Cutty Sark.
Well done Chris and Ritchie, those Cormorans soundlike nice rods for the SPs.

Hi Chris theres still a few about, I blanked but my mate had a 2lb and his dad had one similar but put it back before it got weighed. Then he had another the follwing day but I chose to stay up my neck of the woods and fish for the pollock on light gear. I need to get out that way soon though. I see its offshore down there at the moment... maybe tonight or tomorrow i'll give it a shot.

Forgot before: well done on your first fish on the Cormoran TR4 -- noted that you had it on a sidewinder -- try some lighter jigheaded soft baits 10g downwards, replica worm or eel baits seem to work well for the pollack -- white plugs also work.

Hi Gary,

I have used Ritchies Cormoran TR4 and was very impressed as a rod that one could lure fish with for Bass using plugs and soft plastics.

The Cormoran ITO CRANK is a much softer rod than the TR4. Therefore, it has limitations -- its forte seems to be using soft plastics of 10g or less -- it has fantastic touch--feel.

I note from another post that you are the proud owner of a Red Luck Super Distance. I have used one and its an awesome rod.
Guys bad news! TR4 snapped and I can't understand why? I'm so gutted I went plugging at low yesterday and cast out a feed popper and it snagged on a bit of weed and as i was realing in it just snapped right down the middle? I'm so confused as to why it happened as I know its a good rod and I was with a guy whos been fishing a long time and he said I was doing nothing wrong! I'm going to go see them at Mr Fish and see if Mick can get me the top half of the rod or something because I want that rod...gutted! Do you think my anyfish estuary will be ok to plug with for now?

Rich
Trying fishing to the right of Corbiere Lighthouse slipway with an orange zonk on a rising tide, pollox pollox and more pollox.

Ritchie,

Go and see Mick and Doug, tell them what really happened and you will get the help you need.

I have plugged with an Anyfish--Anywhere Eastury rod (Julian you can send me a free rod now  ;) ) if your arm can stand up to the weight. In fact, sometimes I have been bait fishing and seen Bass close in and on the surface and used much heavier rods with Multipliers and 20lb mono on them and attached soft baits and managed to land the odd Bass.
