going to indonesia fishing fot G Ts mostly from shore/reef previously used shakespeare 10'2" mpv rod with penn reel any suggestions for good rod for popper fishing ? also hoping to get out on some boats popper fishing for G Ts etc any reel and rod advise welcome ? heard diawa saltiga good and shimano t curve bluewater spin ? oh yea were to buy ?? lots questions no jokes do want to catch them myself !!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks

Hi Bruce - good choice although posted in the wrong bit!

Like with any sport it can get real expensive very quickly ... unfortunately GT's are amongst if not THE most brutal fish and gear needs to be up to scratch otherwise it will implode ...

have a look at gtpopping.com forum - some good 2nd hand deals come up and check out places like seawoodtackle.com or caranx.net for euro gt gear - unfortunately nobody in the UK does any tropical tackle for GT's :/

Welcome to the Board Bruce,
The Saltiga (especially the new one) are great bits of kit, if you want a rod of the same caliber try having a look at the Ripplefisher rods from japan.
