Any recommendations for a decent light weight rechargable (preferably) headlight with a decent beam & floodlight setting????

Another big up for the Led Lenser here. I dont have the rechargable one but find battery life more than respectable. Good sliding adjustor, from lowest, very soft light for just tying a hook, up to crazy-son-of-a-bitch-you-burned-out-my-retinas bright. Very light as well.

Another vote for the Princeton Tec Apex here, I have the 60 lumens version and it is great, the new 130 lumens version is outstanding. I have bought several for friends from US using fleabay at just over £40, bargain!

I use a Speleo Technics DX3. Its fully water proof, light & the headlamp comes with two bulbs. One low power that lasts around thirty five hours, & a halogen bulb that lasts around twelve & a half hours. You can also get two other types of headlamp that come with 7 or 14 LED's instead of the low power bulb. These are far more expensive than the two bulb version. The lamp is totaly rechargable. Cannot recommend this one enough. Though some of you may feel this ones a bit expensive, but as you all know you pay for what you get.

Speleo Technics Website is here: http://www.speleo.co.uk/index.htm

This is the website where I bought mine: http://www.caving-supplies.co.uk/cgi-bin/psProdSrch.cgi?mode=user&transid=%7Etransid%7E&source=homePageForm&search_text=speleo+technics&formCategory=All&formBrand=All
