How to Spool a Jigging Reel The Japanese Way
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atYt_aLn ... re=related

Pretty practical and I have do it the manual fashion for my big reels - bucket of water for the spool and wet leather gloves to get the tension on ... still end up with a bit of twist - this little jig looks ideal! Over to you Mick!

Slightly separately, I just bought some of the Powershot, the blue stuff (.15 in 25lb!!!). Now I am feeling stupid here, but I am fine spooling up exactly to the right amount when I have a spare spool of the same size to use. However, I dont have a spare spool for my fireblood, so no other reels with same capacity (my Daiwas have larger, wider spools). The reel holds way in excess of 130m of 0.15 so I need to back it up a fair amount. How on earth can I get this done perfectly? Dont want to end up with 30m of expensive braid thats useless, but I dont want to end up underfilling as well. I am sure there must be an easy way.

Fill the fireblood with braid and whatever backing, then spool that onto one of your diawas, then onto another diawa, then back onto the fireblood

So it would be

Fireblood
Braid on bottom, backing on top

Diawa 1
Backing on bottom, braid on top

Diawa 2
Braid on bottom, backing on top

Fireblood
Backing on bottom, braid on top

Longwided but should work unless I'm being thick.

Obviously this means I undertood correctly that your diawas have a larger capacity.

If that fails get the chicken to eat the corn, the fox to eat the boat.

True Alex. Its still kind of guesswork though, and I suppose I am being really fussy in wanting all the braid on the spool, filled to the right amount!

Right, the incredibly long winded way I think I'll do it is...wind all the braid onto the Fireblood, top up with 20lb mono I use as backing, to the spot I want it on the spool. Then take the end and tie onto another large capacity reel (my beachcaster FS), and reel onto that spool, then take spool off and put the spare empty one on, reel all the line onto that one. Now I will have the mono on top, and can tie back onto the Fireblood and reel it all on, leaving me braid on top. Voila.

Velly interesting stuff. I have seen these spooling stations for sale but that one he has is a beauty, the best I have seen so far. Things I liked about that video, his trainers were funky, if they were Adidas Y3's I would really want some. I like his shop too, did you see the brief glimpse of some of the goodies in there?

Mark did you get your Fire Blood sorted? Silly boy, you only have to ask, I have a spare spool for a Fire Blood......simples.
