After a number of school bass of less than a pound using a bait rod I decided to upgrade to a Supermix 240 which arrived yesterday. To the chagrin of my wife I had to try it out today.

Launched a small boat from Kimmeridge and went East. Weeks of reading this forum and other sources saw me drifting 30m out from the shore casting toward the rocks. After 90 mins bang and I was into a 3lb fish which after a small scuffle was landed. I then proceeded to miss 2 fish before landing a mackeral. Noticing a tide race forming over a ledge and again remembering what I had read I drifted through it. After a dozen casts I was into a second bass this one being a pound and a half. Try that again I thought and this time wallop a fish hit the lure and went deep on the edge of the race. After a hard fight it turned out to be a Wrasse closer to 4lbs than 3, like the others it was returned. At this point a dense sea fog can in so it was back to the slip for me.

Two PB fish for me today - and first time out with the Supermix 240.
