I'm thinking of giving Holyhead a try, I've seen talk of the Breakwater, and the Harbour, are they one and the same? And I've also seen that you can't access the breakwater now? Is that the case ? Or is it just you can't drive close to it? Any ideas where to park?

You can drive down to here Screen Shot 2017-04-03 at 20.29.54.png
But the harbour is massive Screen Shot 2017-04-03 at 20.30.21.png
I don't think you can get access to the ferry port.
I got quite a few Wrasse from just past the second bend of the breakwater at the set of steps just past the 2 big boulders (if they're still there)

thanks for that... i will pay it a visit.. its either there , or Amwlch Port, or Cemaes harbour, really not sure where the biggest variety of the little fish would be.

I've fished Cemaes harbour and had Flounder off there. I got permission to fish Holyhead Marina by emailing them and asking for permission. They don't normally allow fishing but as I explained the concept of LRF and that I was not throwing 4-6oz leads around or 'setting up camp', they allowed me access.

I would also second Amlwch breakwater.
I've fished there with bait/lures for 41 years and you could catch as much as 20 different species there in a day. (no joking)
Holyhead breakwater also a good venue with plenty of species to be had.
I'm giving you a link to Ross Johnsons fishing blog so please take a lool.
While he lived in this area he did plenty of fishing with lots of LRF too.
I know he fished Porthwen or the Old Brickworks as it's called and had some results.
It's between Bull Bay and Llanbadrig and a site to be seen to say the least.
Just read through and see where he fished and what he caught, best of luck to you,
    Tony.

Wow ! What a wonderfully detailed and informative reply .. thank you so much .. it was a toss up between Penmon , Amwlch and Holyhead ... I think amwlch wins .. if I enter the port via the pay and display car park .. opposite the Liverpool Arms , where is the best place ... unless hsysbthe wrong spot altogether .. in which case have you a street name for somewhere close to park and find my way ?
    Thanks

    Hope this works.
This is a Grid finder site and I've marked a few point on it for you.
Don't bother with going down to Amlwch Port.
Head for the Craig y Don Council estate and follow the road for the old Octel Chemical Works.
Turn right before you get there and follow the road past the Octel Social Club.
You will then come up on a large gate where the Amlwch water water works are.
Turn right when you get to it and follow the dirt track up a slight incline and park at the top there looking down towards the breakwater.(point D on the map)
Your car will be safe there and you can also see it from the breakwater as you fish.
You could also drive down to the same side of the harbour as the breakwater but the road is pretty bad.
You can also zoom in and out of this site so you know exactly where you are going.
Used this site quite a few times to share bait fishing marks as you can give the exact location with feet of where to fish.

Found the breakwater thanks to your excellent instructions. Alas a blank , although I only had an hour before I had to move to Penmon, bagged my first ever Scorpion there. Now I know where it is, I'll go back for a longer session when it's a little warmer and some of the mini species have taken up residence :)
