During one of our lure sessions over the weekend, we came across this net complete with weights in a suspicious area:

Anyway I will get to the point, as a lot of you guys and gals will be travelling to Ireland in the future and will be on or near the waterways appling your skills.
I think it would be an idea for you to have a number in your phone for which you could contact in an event you come across illegal fishing activity etc.

Here are some handy numbers to have depending on what area you are visiting:

How to Contact the Regional Fisheries Boards

The Eastern Regional Fisheries Board
Tel: +353 1 2787022

The Southern Regional Fisheries Board
Tel: +00 353 52 6180055

The South Western Regional Fisheries Board
Tel: +353 26 41221

The Shannon Regional Fisheries Board
Tel: +353 61 300238

The Western Regional Fisheries Board
Tel: +353 91 563118

The North Western Regional Fisheries Board
Tel: +353 96 22788

The Northern Regional Fisheries Board
Tel: +353 71 9851435

I got these numbers from the following site:

Are these nets illegal in Ireland Danny?

Around here there are soooooo many different laws and bylaws about nets and their mesh sizes, that even those you think are illegal are infact legal, criminal damage cases can be brought to those who damage these 'legal' nets by their rightful owners......providing they have not broken any rule!

Hello men,

I am no expert, but a general rule of thumb that we use is if it looks suspect ring it in dont touch it or approach the person.
The person on the other of the phone will always ask you to describe what you see/situation and will advise from there.
