Yes pls Tom!

Weird - must be a reason for no bass hmmmm - any theories?

theres a thread from wayback on wsf - no definitive reason as far as I know - very odd really as theres perfect conditions / ground there for them (20 odd miles away youll catch em in Cornwall mind)

Will give you a bell & let you know what to expect (when you going btw?)

Cheers

PS whats your PB wrasse?

Henry Gilbey did a program on scilly. Think it was pollack and maybe a wrasse or 2. No bass apparently.

Would think from remembering what it looked like some HRF'ing would be well worth the effort for decent pollack and wrasse. It ain't all about the bass!!

With my ability there aint such a thing as 'too easy'!!

Having caught my first few Wrasse on lures this year , I could get quite addicted to Wrasse!

As I understand it, the reason there are no bass in the Isles of Scilly is down to the deep water, currents and water temperature off the islands shelf.

I suggest you contact Henry as he fishes there and did a superb program from the Islands with a mate , who lives there. From memory they caught pollack and wrasse but on bait (sandeels). We used to go on Family holidays there in the 80s and it is a superb place and very fishy. I did take a lure rod and caught a couple of pollack on St Agnes but I reckon with todays lure, Sps and fly tactics it will be well worth a trip. I intend to return one day with the lure rod.

They discourage people taking cars to the Isles of Scilly (St. Marys). The Scillonian is the ferry - http://www.islesofscilly-travel.co.uk/ - and I think it may take the odd car (probably VERY expensive). However if you see how cars are loaded then you will think twice. Hauled onto the deck in a sling! None of the Islands are very big. St Marys is the biggest and from memory you can walk the length of it in under an hour [NB - it is 30 years since I was last there so my timing may be a bit sketchy]. Everybody travels between the islands on local ferries and if you were fishing you will be traveling light anyway. There are some cracking places to fish. You are making me quite envious, will have to have another visit sooner rather than later.
