Jolly boys outing?

What is the chances of organising a mass exodus of us lot on a tropical lure trip? I mean anywhere from 4 to say 12 of us to go somwhere in say 2011, and get smashed up by some stupidly huge fish off the surface? A thrift could be started for saving? Do you think it would work?

I would seriously love to! Would have to see what the young lady says (imaging it'll be costly?!), but perhaps I could get away with by that point saying it was "work"?! :muttley:
Product testing Benjamin, product testing. Like I say a savings plan like ten or twenty quid a week would help many of us out.

How tropical are you thinking Mick :?:
Up for anywhere, Africa, Porto rico, Costa Rica, Cuba, Venezuella, Marthas Vineyard, Australia, Mexico?

"Product testing" it is then! Are we ALL product testing?! Could just work. Sounds quite important! I must go to The Seychelles to test some lures! It's essential!

Don't get me interested in tropical lures Mick! We all know how good my self control is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :bangin:

Is that that big lump in the sea off the south coast? (lined you up there mate, go on)
Sounds tops - need somewhere where boat time is cheap - Dave is a stong Kenya advocate and there are some awesome trips to be had in Madagascar - St Brandons could be good too

Keeping flight and boat time down is the key to a reasonably priced tropical trip ... you guys better get down the gym and start busting some weights for 2011 ;)
I'm in !!!!!! I'll bring my harmonica !!! Can we go somewhere where some decent shore-fishing is an option, as spending all day on a boat turns me green (where's that spewing monkey when you need him ?????).

I'll re-double my training efforts - i'll switch to my Stein Glass !!!! That should build good arm muscles !!!!

We all do it every year mate, it's called the Jersey Bass Festival, just still waiting for the 'tropical' bit tho.
I'd throw my hat into that ring, so to speak (I rarely sport headwear).

I have dreamed for a long time about going somewhere 'tropical' to fish, on a dedicated fishing holiday, but without having a couple of mates that are seriously enough into their fishing, its not been possible for me. I have dabbled in the US and the Red Sea, but would love the opportunity to go on a full on fishing expedition. Please keep us posted with any ideas. I like the saving idea as well (I am appalling at saving!)

Nah, Simon Lewis hasn't swam there for a while Mick, you must be thinking of something else :muttley:
Could be very cool indeed.............

A few ideas :

Outer Atolls of the Seychelles out of action at the moment due to piracy issues - a shame, it's just insane fishing

St. Brandons - the guys I know running the live aboard trips are running them as saltwater fly fishing trips

Australia - some insane top water stuff on a serious mother ship operation in the Coral Sea, have wanted to go there for ages : http://www.nomadsportfishing.com.au/ - utter insanity, lots of videos on their site. GTs, doggies etc.

Madagascar - seems like some very good fishing, would need to be organised via one of the French companies running trips down there - GTs, doggies, snapper etc. I believe

West Africa - some serious fishing in some serious places, but not somewhere for a big group and not a place for people who have not really travelled much before - southern Angola would be the place to fish plastics for insane numbers of kob, plus garrick off the top etc, then nearer the capital Luanda for serious tarpon, monster jacks etc. Gabon for big tarpon, cubera snapper, threadfin etc. - no GTs on the west coast of Africa.

etc., etc.,

If you want to get hurt, you need to chase big GTs off the surface.
See less See more
Mick - brilliant idea.

As someone currently living the tropical dream (well for three more days) where do I sign?

I'm sorry but I can't add any value as to where or when but I know that I just need to do this again. :wackit:
Hey Henry - Off to St Brandon's in April but not with FlyCastaway or Aardvark - we have a cat for 5 of us and two centre consoles for popping - although I want to take a 12wt in case I feel the urge! bit of an exploratory trip but we have an experienced guide with us so hey ho ...

When the trip was looking like it was falling through a couple of weeks ago I nearly went to Bugatti with Nomad - which I will prob. do next year ...
All sounds great.

How about some roosters in Baja?

Always fancied that.
Got to be done chaps, I need to put the red ones under extreme pressure. I feel as though they havent been given a proper work out & I am dying to know how they perform under extreme pressure.
I would add the states to the list of destinations, reasonable flight costs, not expensive when there & plenty of fishing for all, whether boat or shore. East coast of Florida for numbers of Snook, Reds, Poon & Permit to name a few.
That said I want to catch a GT & am interested in anywhere that can offer the chance of catching one.
Alex - sounds like it will be a blast, hope the trip goes well. My mates tell me that they have not seen as many GTs down there as somewhere like Cosmoledo (but then that place is a freak of nature, they are everywhere), BUT, there are some serious monsters there. Sounds like a great place, was asked to go the other day at short notice but could not do it, mad size bonefish they have had on the fly to over 15lbs so far. The guys have never seen so many so big. Now they float my boat big time on the flats.
