Do Garfish jump? I don't mean occasionally, I mean like 5 or 6 times on the trot (like a dolphin or seal does)?

If they don't, what other snake looking fish does? Looked over a pound but less than two.

Yes they can do. They do that when hooked up as well. Great fun on light gear.

Garfish are related to the Marlin I believe, they jump when caught :-D

Or are spooked by a lure landing next to them, or come off the hook or maybe when they are chased by a squid at night

Normally a good indication the gars are there in the first place when you get them jumping after the lure landing

Yep - we get that too. always makes me giggle when you spook them and they come tail-walking out of the water...
