I use a Palm Axis PFD. It's important to check out the Newtons lift properties of the PFD as each is different. Go for something with a lift of around 75 Newtons.

I use a bit of the palm gear and its top notch ,as for movement the dearer stuff is often fitted better for movement but its like all the gear dry suit included you will need to get used to it ,and when you do youll forget you have it on

Thanks very much for all your replies.

The Palm stuff looks great. My concern is getting something that is too bulky which will restrict casting etc? Maybe something like the Palm FX or Helix Freestyle would be better?

Or could yo use a gas inflated slim-fit life jacket (as I already have one of those)??

Nick a good quality jet ski pfd is much slimmer & is perfect for what you want i think. I have used one but I prefer the proper kayaker's pfd these days.
