Myfish was aking me the other day about pouring his own softies. OI have heard you can tell the anglers that do it as they look like Simon Weston/Nicky Lauder after a few attempts (no disrespect to either of the afore mentioned I have the upmost for both).

Anyhoo I found this today, some call it pour your own softies....I can it Napalm in your kitchen!!

I looked into it but decided against it the main problem was getting the plastic to mould also i don't think my Ann would aprove [it's bad enough making leads] plus the chance of burns etc i decided to leave it to the experts soft plastics on the whole are cheap enough

I've thought a lot about having a go at this however I have been put off by the relative effort required and the DIY quality. I use a wide range of SP lures in lots of colours and I often use up to 20 or more of each per season. To make that number and variety of lures would require some serious effort and then the quality would be nowhere as good as a production lure. OK so finish isn't everything, but I don't feel the need to spend an equivalent amount in time and effort and cash compared to buying a few, especially if I'm only going to get an inferior product.

And do I really need my own design? Probably not, I have always found lure designers to be more myth than legend.

I do make my own leadheads, but I use those on all my SPs, so there is little in the way of variations to deal with, just one big batch of a certain weight.

Best of luck to those who try the home made SP route though.

Cheers

Paul
