Headed to south Pemb’s again. Today’s target was Wrasse and Pollock using soft plastics in deeper water. The swell report was not good with a 5 feet swell hitting the chosen mark.
Arrived at first light and decided to chance an exposed point, ten minute walk to find the swell was too big so headed back inshore to find some protection from the westerly swell.
Found a lovely gully with some nice protection but water clarity was not good, the swell was smashing into the rocks behind me.
Tried a few different sp’s including big hammers did not have any success with them but they have a lovely action, senkos and then different colour xlayer's.
Found some kelp, bounced the lure off the bottom then this fella hit. After a nice fight it came ashore. Measuring in at 40cm at a guess about 2lb
Tried for another hour but no more luck.
Headed further west and fished an exposed rock mark for Bass trying a feed shallow, zonk gateride and a few sp's but no luck. The swell was making fishing hard and clarity was not good so called it a day.
Target species caught and lots of learning with different sp’s.
