Had a cracking trip on the kayak this morning.

Plenty of fish, bass, pollack and mackerel all on SP. Some puffins for company too.

Just as the tide slackened off I got myself attached to this beauty.

Typical, no scales with me, a half mile paddle to the van, no rock pools to keep it alive either.

So back she went.

Took a xorus sayori shad on a 10g head.

To be honest she was a bit thin.

Reckon a good 5-8, but they always seem to weigh heavy for their size.

No worries, plenty more there.

I do fancy a trip to Alderney just for wrasse on lures.

Nice fish and well done - some big wrasse being caught in the waters of our islands latley.

I always make sure I got my scales with me now after the quick run I had back to my car after catching a nice one a few weeks back , luckily I had a rockpool nearby.

Maybe you should join in the wrasse comp if there a fish around like that - you would not be the first to join up after catching a big one , there a few now who have.
