After only one session on the west coast of wales proving unsuccesful i was hopeful of catching my first bass during a week long holiday to cornwall where i would hopefully get some fishing time in.

With no luck at marazion, porthleven, godrevy and trolling from the kayak at mousehole it was down to the last day. Went to coverack on the lizard in the morning where my gf beat me to my first fish on the new rod with pollack of about 1lb on the maria chase. My sister also hooked a seagull which luckily came off.

Went to cadgewith in the afternoon and had no luck in the harbour area up to high tide, went on a last ditch attempt walking to the north along the coast path where we found somewhere to get down onto the rocks after about half a mile. 3rd cast caught my first ever bass on the maria chase. Only bout a 1lb but o well. Quick photo and back it went.

Cheers for reading
Dave
