I'm currently looking at a few options for something around the 8ft mark with a pretty fast action.
Wondering if anyone has any feedback on these - or suggestions on others.
Not a huge budget, but willing to stretch.
Fishing the Gower coastline and estuary.

    1. Sakura Ryokan 8ft : 15-50g @ £55

    2. HTO Lure Game 8ft6 : 8-35g @ £65

    3. Savage Gear MPP Spin 8ft : >50g @ £58

Any reel advice wouldn't go a miss either.

    Hi Ceri.
If you let us know what type of lures you intend to use you may get a few more specific recommendations.
Out of those three, forget the MPP - it's horrid.
Look at the SG bushwhacker range instead.
I know nothing about the Sakura and you'll find the HTO range is very highly rated by most for the money - personally in that budget would probably be top of my list.

Edit - as for the reel Shimano exage in 3000 or 4000 side dependant on the rod and personal preference.

Mainly soft plastics, some hard top water stuff too. 15 - 30g usually. Sidewinders, Illex shads, Fiiish minnow etc.

    Cheers.

You won't go wrong with the HTO
    Quality rod for the money,
Just try to find a used one for sale, they are a rod people tend to hang on to.

Ceri, I fish Gower and have done for years.........I normally fish a 3g cone and sp - up to 10g total, if the swell is up, then maybe a 5g cone, sometimes a bigger weightless sp.
Careful you don't end up with a poker that has no feeling for when your drifting the sp's

Savage Gear Bushwhacker and Shimano Exage reel. If you shop around, you should be able to come in around £125. Great combo for the money and will handle the style of fishing you want.

Another rod in that price bracket is the Shimano beastmaster dropshot which is an awesome SP rod for the money. not the best for plugs but ok. Not sure if they're discontinued but should be some floating around somewhere.
