So today I decided once the nipper was in bed I would have a quick go with my homemade lures and also test some new line on my HRF outfit.

Rod: Daiwa Infeet 7-21g HRF specialist rod
Reel: Pflueger Supreme 8035MG
Line: Yamatoyo SW Super PE #1.0 in blue
Leader: Ultima 15lb Flourocarbon
Lures: Home made soft plastics.
Lead head: Home made 7.5g football head with 1/0 hook.

So...

Line testing as well as lure testing, line is very limp and pretty thin, not so thin as G-Soul in the same b/s but still very good, much smoother and thinner than the 0.13mm power pro I normally use for this type of fishing.

Line cast very well, nice and smooth and was well tested against the rocks tonight, good thing I was using a leader!!!

2nd cast, fish on!! he really didn't want to come in giving some strong runs and going to ground behind a boulder, some very strog pressure (thought the line was going to go) made him come out and he came in Ok after that. About 3lb.

a couple of casts later my mate showed up on his way home from work and I had a small rockie, about 1.5lb I guess. By now I was having a bite a cast.

Showed my mate the new lures explaining how I had made them, he's nearly a convert to lure fshing now after being a crab and live eels man almost exclusively for years!!

I was just showing hm how to work the lure back and I was well and truly mullered by a savage take, line pouring off the reel with complete abandon. Oh yes!!!!

he called it as a BIG bass early on but I was adamant it was a rockie because of the way it felt, they all feel different on the right gear with great braid.

Eventually it showed near a boulder and I was right (of course!!), decent rockie, got him reaching for the net and sliding down the rocks to net it for me.

Worth weighing that one I said!!

Went 4-7-8 on the digi scales and a new SP PB for rockies for me (best on bait is 5-12). So the smaller one can be scrubbed off the Plastic piggy bank, not sure if this moves me up at all, doubt it.

Anyway, what a fun hour that was!!

it's not as dark as it looks in the pics, but the flash was needed in the half light so killing the background, and I finished the background off in the second to protect my mark. I was getting at least 2 bites every retreive.

So all in all, very happy with lures, very happy with new line which the local shop will be stocking very soon.

Lovely big fish Andy. Sounds like a great mark, I can see why you'd like to keep it under wraps.

Lovely fish Andy! Glad that the new braid and lures etc are doing the business too. having recommended the Yamatoyo in the past it's good when somebody agrees.
