Good day today. With it being a proper spring low I went out at about 11am. Lovely sunny day - bit weird out there early doors with a dusting of snow on the cliffs though!

Ended up with 4 bass, two about 3lb and the smaller two, 2lb each. I'm pretty sure I could have caught more but with the tide being such a low one, after finding where the fish were and catching 3 in about 6 casts, I carried on searching the points, bars and gullies. Got to see and fish a lot of exposed points that I can't usually fish. Unfortunately, no more fish to show for all the walking I did.

Nice day out and a good start to the year.

Cheers guys. That one's an IMA Gyodo 110. Brilliant action on them. This was the first one I caught, also the smallest, just about. Also caught fish on the Jackson Athlete 140, and the final 2 were on the Lucky Craft Flast Pointer 128. After catching the Jackson fish I knew I was in the right area, but had a feeling that the fish would be a bit deeper than I was fishing. Put the Pointer on and had 2 in 2 casts. Really annoyed that I didn't stay in that spot now.

Excellent work, Ben - nice photo too! Looks like Cornwall is really firing. So much for the "off-season"!

Cheers Griff.

After I'd finished fishing I went for a stroll and bumped in to a couple of groups of bait anglers. I took my rod with me just in case (didn't use it) and they looked at me like I was a complete freak trying with lures in January. They were even more shocked when I told them what I caught. They were out after a few whiting and dogs, while I'd been wandering the beaches as if it were mid August, catching bass. Total opposites. 2 of them expressed a proper interest in giving lures more of a go this year. Told them to get in touch with the likes of Mick and Nath to sort themselves out properly :aarrg:

Not far away at all, just a bit more of a climb mate. Will within casting disnce of the Gower!! Let us know how you get on!! :horsesword:

Get on 'em Mick. Great lures. Cast well, great action - even worked slow. One of those lures you can do pretty much anything with really. Prefer the 12cm slow sinker to the 14F, but lost the only one I had.
