With the wind picking up tomorrow and the moon making things hard for a few days after that, I made a late decision this morning to fish for a couple of hours. Pooring with rain, it looked pretty good other than that. Little bit of swell, clear water, could well have been onbe of those days where I had a dozen or more if this was September or October... but it wasn't. Nice to be out, but no fish to speak of. The water looked quite devoid of life to be honest. No gobies in the rockpools, no fish in the sea. Plenty of anemones in the rockpools and helluva lot of sand has moved about since I was last there - looking really good with regards to that actually.

New Daiwa rod was superb! Way better than I expected even. Found some good and some bad cheap lures, but didn't catch much! Booooooooo! Couple of weeks!

well done mate for getting out, i found that out on Sunday when i went for an hour, no fish in the rock pools, very odd, i thought. water was really badly coloured tho. I am booked up from Wednesday and Thursday guiding, the winds will have dropped hopefully by then.

Would love love love to get over there mate!

Night time, probably agree, but doing some of the climbing I do at night would be suicidal. Specially in the rain. The water here is still more than a degree colder than the south coast so I'd still rate chances as slim though.

LRF - Already in the pipeline for this week. Just waiting for a break in the weather. Reasonably confident in where I'm heading but its a fair drive so want to make it as enjoyable as possible. Today was just about trying out a load of new kit to be honest. There'll be plenty of chances for bass later on.

I'll get a few LRF trips under my belt, then try and find a convenient time to get over. I may be able to pull a clever one and persuade my girlfriend to visit friends in Hampshire, dropping me at Exeter airport on the way and picking me up on the way back! I reckon it might just work at some point. Will get a few LRF trips under my belt, then start thinking...

Which rod did you try Ben? Lost track of which ones you have now there are so many!!!!
I went for an hour today, where I fished the water was clear and I saw no signs of life whatsoever under water, no small fish, crab nothing. There were plenty of cormorants working though so there must be something there..... at least until they have finished eating them all that is.....

The Tournament Mike. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant to fish with. Those guides make casting soooooo smooth. Perfect action wise for my kind of stuff. Couldn't be happier with it.

I know! Got to hook something so I can figure out what sort of power it really has. Its going to be fine though I think. Casts better than any rod I've probably ever owned.
