From personal experience I would say that on the whole skishing is probably alot safer than trying to use a float tube on the open sea. They catch the wind something aweful.
However I have tried them, and it a cool way to fish fresh water lakes.

I have used float tubes on trout lakes. I wouldnt take one out over here though, would end up in France I reckon.

I have used one in the sea first time the knot hole tightend up just a tad, but i had a rope attached to my son on land so i felt ok
amazing when fish trying to turn you 360deg, i only went about 100yds

Been using them for years, and have been very tempted to take them out in sheltered bays etc, but definately would not be going anywhere with lots of tide!!!

Although with a support boat at hand, a few drifts across some local reefs with a nice double or two on the end of the line would be pretty entertaining I expect.
