after a 2 a.m departure from gloucester arrived to a beautiful summers morning a little mist, steady surf and a slight colour in the water. started fishing at 4.30 a.m in the river mouth hoping to ambush a few silver surfers. after twenty mins on komomo11 with no takers swapped to feed shallow still no takers . 5.15 a.m switched to homemade orange redgill nose removed and 18 gram barrel lead glued and inserted to avoid as much weed as possible. few casts in bang schoolie on gave a spirited battle. ten minutes later fish on 2nd schoolie bout three pounds then a ten twenty minutes later a third similar size to second fought well. fished up to high tide with two more hard hits no hook ups. starting to show in good numbers now

Great stuff Ali - nice to get a couple. The obvious rhetorical question is where those fish there earlier and chose to ignore the komomo and feed shallow or did they just move in and take the first lure they saw? An obvious lesson is it cant do any harm to change your lure frequently if one isnt working.

Nice mornings fishing and worth the early start!
