as iv got abit more interest in plugging i have also been throwing a few lures at the pike on a local water knowing the was some big fish there and already landing a few fish upto 7lb,but sad news nathan my son who fishes for the carp came home to tell me that a big pike that he caught a few years back had gone belly up and will never take my plug,the fish went 33lb ,fancy that on your rapala.

Wow - a big old girl indeed! Shame she's gone but now some of the others will move up to take her place I am sure.

I have seen this happen several times over the years.
I have before pegged out several very large fish with bankstiks to hold them upright while they lie still in the water,several of these fish have been over 20lbs and thankfully they went off in the end.
Smaller fish sadly have been lost and have gone belly up etc.(these fish were pike)
Zander are a very delicut fish to return and do need lots of support sometimes.
