Has anyone on here actually seriously used a bamboo rod for fishing? I have owned a couple but never used them.

Not actually, but i start fishing 35 years ago with a bamboo rod and a float.
Some years later with a bamboo fly rod
My dad was showing me a rod he was given when I was in UK at the weekend. Its a 'Sealey' rod, showing the model name as a Spinet. Only rating I could see was 5lb on the blank. He offered it to me to bring back to try, but as much as the idea appealed, I'd be petrified of it shattering or something. Could have woodworm.
Used old bamboo beachcasters as a kid - like broom handles but could lob an 8oz a way into the surf!!! (Think my grandad still has em?)
I fished with wooden rods for years.

Bamboo, green-heart etc.

also fished with bruce and walker hexagraph's.

All have unique actions and are actually, quite wonderful.

Much has been lost and much has been gained as technology has moved forward.
