With the wrasse threads etc being so popular I wondered if many of you have any good pics of other species apart from bass caught on lures....FW or SW...

My best on a hard lure

My best gar this year 1lb 2oz

Pat G with that lovely 7lb Pollack he had in 20ft of water

And his first wrasse ever on a hard lure, pretty fish...

I was fishing for Snipe (Gar) with a cheap Maria yann type lure, it put up a good scrap on the little Daiwa. I had three weighers for the club that day, Mackerel, Snipe and the Wrasse above. I wasn't allowed to the weigh the Shad in as it is a protected species. Crazy, as most of its scales had come off so I'm sure it would have died a few days after release.

Gurnard ?

Awesome. Didn't know you had done that.
Don't get me started on gurnards...there are loads of reds about, scrappy little sods for their size but I would love to find some tubs.

I have been told to try an area out west - the boat and shore records are 11 and 12lb. Imagine that on a vertical SP in 150ft of water. I reckon I'd choose a 10lb gurnard over a 10lb bass, just for the novelty value.

Nuts? Probably.

I think its only tubs we get over here, behind St Aubins fort is where I had two, and they could have been caught from the rocks on the fort easily. I had another in the small roads outside the harbour and years ago I have had a couple on bait inside the harbour this time of year, one on the vic and one on the end of the new north.

I'm no fish ID guru, but I am sure there are red and greys out there. When I catch one over 5lb I'll know its a tub!

PS Just looked at the record list and it shows reds and tubs, no greys or streaked.
