One of my all time best all round plugs has to be the Heddon Lucky 13,especially in the white sparkle colour scheme.
These plugs have been around for decades and there is even a small version.
I have caught many many good Pike upto the 20lbs mark on plugs like the Dalton Twist and the ultimate 'jack catcher' the Heddon Crazy Crawler.
Has anyone ever tried these old classic plugs for Bass ?

I have never even heard of them Nick!!
The Crazy crawler is an amazing fish catcher and 'walks' across the surface making a 'plip plop' noise as it walks. It has two stainless paddles either side that do the walking.
If you have anywhere in Jersey that contains Pike,in the warmer months 'walk' one over the weed beds and always watch behind the plug for long torpedo shapes cruising about 2 foot behind.
The Lucky 13 is one of the top Bass catchers of all time in America,a surface plug that pops and dives probably about 6 inches if you crank it hard.
I have many of these plugs in small and large sizes but have never used them in the salt. They are also furnished with stainless hooks.
The Crazy Crawler would only work on a 'flat calm' but are amazing to watch, they are supposed to imitate small mammals (ducklings, voel) paddling across the water.

That crazy crawler sounds like a plug my mate used to use, he called it a micky mouse or something like that, it chattered across the surface. The only aged plugs I still have are my set of Woolworths pike plugs still in the Wilco box!
All seasoned Pike anglers will carry the Crazy One in their box,my personal choice is the Bull Frog.
I have had many doubles and hundreds of Jacks on the Crazy One.
The Dalton Twist imitates a small duck or puppy swimming joyfully over a weed bed  :)

A puppy!!! Man imaging how freaked out you'd be if you took your brand new pedigree puppy for its first walk and see a monster pike hoof it down its throat!! Gutted!!
Not unheard of for a Wels (catfish) to take a small dog over here :D

They look interesting to say the least, good luck on using them. Was thinking of starting to collect old lures myself.

Regards
Andy
Thanks Andy. I have been thinking about starting a small collection too. No so much the big bucks Hardy stuff, more the unusual, madder the better-what. There seems to be a huge choice, especially on the other side of the pond.

Those sinking Canadian wigglers used to be made from hollow brass !!!

The Creek Chub lures are good as well......classics and nothing more needs to be said about one of my best ever Pike taking lures......the Lucky 13.
