I did very well on the salt skimmer. Have not used a popkey so can't comment

Popkey is fantastic and nearly as good at getting action as the Patchinko 100.
    Have not used the other...

I used the chart popkey quite alot last year and had some tidy bass on it, ive not used the skimmer but I know its a deadly lure and have a few to try out this year.

A lure to also worth thinking about is the ima pugachev cobra, Has no rattle in it so perfect for those bright, calm, clear days and also casts like a bullet.

Salt Skimmer (becareful as some places are flogging the freshwater version)-Awesome lure, especially with a slightly quicker retrieve than the patchinko100.
Had a Popkey, lost it -Won't be getting another

Hi Pat, I use both, but find the Popkey easer to use than the salt skimmer.
Thats probably me being a bit kack handed but I think the salt skimmer needs a bit more input. The skimmers a better caster though.

    Good luck

    Another vote for the skimmer.
It's great in glass calm conditions.

John you might find the skimmer easier to walk with your new rod!

    Cheers Nath

Only ever got a few fish on the Popkey used it quite a bit to be honest when it first came out but the Skimmer would get my vote
