Hi bought the above lure over the winter and gave it a try today to see what it was like and to be honest was a bit dissapointed as it didn't have any action to it. It was bought for when the sea is a bit rougher as my shallow divers seem to come out of the water, hopefully in these conditions it might have a bit more life to it. If anyone has one I would be intrested in how they work it and what conditions they work it in any tips would be great. Cheers

If it's anything like the smaller Press Baits that I have, this is a common complaint I hear from people.........but the whole point is that they are "flutterers" or "jig minnows"........and I presume yours is. Fish it with a sink and draw method. A straight retrieve does nothing to them, this is not how they are designed to be worked.

Essentially it is meant to be blasted out, let it sink (you choose how much) and "flutter" down, draw the rod tip up, let it "flutter" (sink) down again, repeat all the way in - you will get hit on the drop when the lure is working (fluttering down).

Please somebody correct me if I am on about the wrong kind of lure.

I think I have the same Pressbait - it is more of a deep water sink and draw action - let it flutter down whilst keeping contact with it

Yep, Henry and Alex have got it. They're really meant for casting in to deeper water and fishing traditional sink n draw style all the way in. They're not actually designed to do much on the retrieve, unfortunately. In the right conditions and location they should be quite succussful, but they're quite a specialist bait.

I did let it drop next to me a couple of times but it didn't look like it was fluttering it looked like it was just doing a straight sink, I will have to keep trying it. One thing I did like was how well it cast. Thanks for the replies.

How deep are we talking before you would consider using it.

Ummmmm, not too sure but I can imagine (like you say) it dropping fairly straight to start with due to it's weight and then momentum causing it to move more and more as it drops. I'd say you might need 20' to be honest.
