There have been a few threads recentlly about the need for reels with shallow spools. This is just a thought I use a couple of coarsefishing match reels which have shallow spools. They hold aprox 150yrd of 20lb braid have great line lay and no need for backing. Been useing them for years in the salt with no ill effects as long as you wash them off after (but we all do that dont we). One of them an old mitchel 401 I have had for 20yrs and it still like new(by eck dont make um like they use to lol). Anyone else use match reels?

yes m8, I do and Kev does. We use them for very thin PE lines.

I'm looking for a shallow spool for a Stella 1000FD. If anyone has a link I'd be grateful
(0.3 PE in case you're wondering!)
