Save My Sanity (what little there is) Dorset,
I am thinking about diving down to Dorset for a day or two plugging, I was wondering if any of the membership had any idea what the conditions are like, Dirty water?? rough?? Currently thinking about this weekend coming. In hope of Bass (if very lucky) or Pollack, Wrasse or ANYTHING.
I have a couple of marks to try, wind looks gentle and northerly, which should suit where I am thinking about. Just need to know if its soupy or not.

Sadly I can't help Dave, but hopefully Mike (Plugs) will help you out. Good luck if you get down there and let us know how you get on. Is the need to have your string pulled that bad?

Thanks JimH,
that is encouraging, well the clear water bit anyway. Thanks for the reply

Tim,
Yeap, that bad and then some. But although the odds are slim, It would still be useful to start looking at some new ground (to me), a chance to take some notes for later in the year. And given Naths (we are not worthy) results recently, you just never know unless you try. There are good reasons for picking this area to try though.

Don't be down on yourself. Nathan obviously knows his stuff but...
You can only catch what is in front of you.

Get to Portland and go plugging. If it fails, think outside the box and try some of the stuff
we are doing here in Jersey. Fish is fish m8.

Like your thinking Keith, just got to get out & have a go, any fish is a bonus at this time of year.

Whilst my friend blanked on Portland & commented on his sanity at 5 in the morning, I am gutted that I didnt go. I wont be making the same mistake this coming weekend.

Keith,
Not being down on myself, I just meant that the odds of success bass wise are relatively low this time of year. But unless your out, getting lures wet, you will never know. Won't be at Portland though, will be sneaking around another stunning part of the Dorset coastline.

To be honest, like JimH. There is just nothing like being on the rocks, fishing.

JimH,
Had a look at the tides for Portland, cracking dawn tide on sunday morning. Tides like that have been good to me down there in the past. Wish you every success, hope you get in amoungst them (and take a pic)
