Went out today to try the storm beaches on the South of the Island. When I arrived the sea was like mud! Dejected decided to try in the solent to save a wasted trip, although to be honest I was not hopeful of my first fish this year- cold Northerly wind, neap tides, coloured water etc.
Anyway the water at the mark I chose was pretty clear. Tried several lures with no luck over about an hour and was about to give up. Thought I would just give a go to my shore line shiner and BANG, got hit like a steam train only about 10 yards out. I knew it was a good fish and boy did it give a me a good tussle. Didn`t have my scales so I couldn`t weigh it ,but It was over 21 inches against my rod marker.
Sorry about the poor picture, I was too shcked and excited to keep my hand steady, and the other one I took on the deck was too blurred to use.
Fish went back well to fight another day- bl...... Great feeling! Makes it all worth while.
