i've been slinging the ole chug bug around for a while on and off for a few years now i've really got the lures bug i really would love to take one off the top i've also got in my modest collection of lures a mag popper (sand eel large) and a skitter walk
can anyone tell me if locally it's a going method or am i better of pursuing with sub surface and shallow divers ?
cheers col

Two go-to lures that have a proven track record are the Patchinko and Z-Claw - the Z-Claw has the added bonus that it can be worked subsurface, the Patchino is one of the best casting lures too

Work them both S L O W L Y to get a lovely snaking walk the dog action - sit tight and enjoy the hookups!

All of mine this year so far were off the top. Patchinko, sammy, chugbug & spook jnr. But have to admit that it's my preference. Maybe I'd of had more if I did more shallow /mid divers.
I love it, but do wonder if I ought to do more sub surface.
And agree with Alex, slow is the way to go.
