Treble Hook Cover Boredom

993 Views 16 Replies 12 Participants Last post by  Harold
Does anyone else suffer from treble hook cover boredom, I always make a point of using hook covers in the spring, but the habit always dies off after a few weeks. I would like to see a strip style hook cover, one motion one job done if you know what I mean.

I just cant be arsed with them.
same as lewis couldnt be bothered using them
I too start every season with a full collection of hook bonnets but as time goes by the tangle starts, and its a nightmare by the time the season really kicks in all my lures are in a right state and I cant untangle them in a hurry. Lure trays with slots is the way forward i think, I just wish they would make some big boat size ones.
I use them religiosly (sp?) in varying sizes - Tom has just sent me some foam covers for my tropical poppers too as they are too large for bass lures (thanks Tom!)
Mine last for approximately the length of time it takes me to use that particular lure. I'm sorry, but I dont have the patience to be fiddling like that! But then the time I take to untangle the trebles...
Been through Mr Fishs lure box a couple of years ago found a Roach (I think its a freshwater fish) when we were looking for lures to put on the Christmas tree, no hook bonets in sight.
Got some Sakura lure boxes and they do it all for me ! one lure per compartment :laserswords: Sorted

Hi Steve,

Yes, it is a great bag for rock work and so far the zips are working ok which is my usual problem with bags.

Tried several bags for wading, Including the Rapala and one that I made up out of an Mike Thrussle Bass rig wallet that I attached to the front of my waders and I don't like any of them. So I purchassed a cheap chest pack yesterday and will be trying that out as soon as possible. Water temp is down to 7.8c here so I will only be in the water for about an hour, and to be honest the Bass fishing for me at the moment has been very poor with lures or bait. Lot lot of the other lure guys are having the same problem finding the Bass.
Chris your BUM looks big reguardless what size bag you try and hide it with.......... :aarrg:
At the risk of pissing off the manufacturers and retailers of all things designed to stop lures tangling, can I suggest a cheap tip?
When we buy lures in boxes they sometimes come with elastic bands holding the trebles straight underneat the lure. This is a help in the tackle box, if like me you can't be a4sed with bonnets or if you dont have a magic sakura box. You can buy more of those bands on Ebay. I use the small clear ones and they are cheap as. At a push they can also hold the middle treble of a popper in place if you are having trouble with the odd tangle.

Chris,

If it is any consolation the fishing is poor around the Gower as well though our temps are slightly higher than yours at 9 degrees, Griff is going for a chuck today around the West Wales area so we will see if there is anything about

Bob its just my Fat Bass-Tard waders that make my bum look big :muttley:
I should really.
I have hundreds of rubik's lures.
Hi,

I always use them, love them.
The trebles stay sharp an in the lurebox you don,t have to untangle them.

I use plastic covers from Owner.
