Have any of you considered this type of boot as a wading boot . Competitive price too.......shame they don't do them with felt soles ;)
Si,

What is your view on felt soles ! What are they good for, or bad ? My boots have felt soles and I find them OK for most of what I do, Slippery in the mud but otherwise Ok. Have been thinking about buying a walking type boot or shoe to wear with the waders !!!

Hmm, for me, its felt all the way. I find them great for all types of rock, not great on the kelp....but then what is.....arse thumping on wet grass. I am quite hard on my boots although I keep them running with a wash off and patch up after every session.....I go through my share of aquaseal on the soles though......maybe its the aquaseal that gives me the grip
Yellow block vibram is ok for clean rock and obviously the approaches but I don't know where the felt/studs or rubber/studs fit in, those studs make heaps of noise on the rocks when your creeping up on your quarry

I know this may sound odd but if you buy one pair of stocking foot waders you could always get two pair's of boots then you would have everything covered take the boots that suit the ground
Just an idea dai

Not odd at all Dai considering the odd type that you are  ;)
Personally, I don't think there is any area down Gower that you can't manage to cross with felt soles(believe me, I've covered all the S Gower coast at LW  ). On big tides, 12m+, you get kelp exposed, but not enough to warrant the need for studs, unless you want to jump around in the few exposed areas  The studs would be ok for the approaches up and down the grass valley but you'd soon weaq them out and scare all the shirleys away when tromping over the clean rock to the waters edge (but you may be of the type that likes to sit 40miles from the waters edge with your rod in a stand.......studs would be ok for them  )
