***Warning*** Art Of Fishing Web Site

754 Views 12 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  Pennywise
I just tried to visit the Art of Fishing website.

If anyone knows who runs http://www.artoffishing.co.uk/ , let them know the following is appearing on their site:

The "HoeflerText" font wasn't found.

The web page you are trying to load is displayed incorrectly, as it uses the "HoeflerText" font. To fix the error and display the text, you have to update the "Chrome Font Pack".

Manufacturer: Google Inc. All Rights Reserved
Current version: Chrome Font Pack 53.0.2785.89
Latest version: Chrome Font Pack 57.2.5284.21

-------------------------------------------------------
This is a scam beware!

Here is a brief description on what it is:

Do not click Update.

***This is caused by a malicious third party taking advantage of legitimate web sites to dupe unsuspecting people into installing malware.***

Regards,
Danny.

I have just been reading up on it.

Please spread the word, particularly with people that are not computer savy, this scam will appear on other sites and currently Chrome along with the majority of common Security software do not detect it. It contains some nasty Malware.

I've just checked the Art of Fishing web site and I am not getting any unexpected messages.
Yeah it is working for me me now too.
I had this too, but switched to Microsoft edge and was fine. Windows defender did remove a Trojan after visiting so it was a real threat.
I've used the site 3 times in the last week, and not seen any of those messages. Of course now I am fretting ! Lol ... who invented these computer things anyway ! I remember doing computer studies at school and only ever drawing ludicrously complicated flow charts !!! We never actually had any computers in the class ! Hope it's a temporary glitch
It's Ben Field, who is normally very 'on the ball'. May be worth sending him an email so he can check into it, just in case any horrible spy stuff has been embedded anywhere...

I tried to access the site just now to use the Contact tab to make Ben aware of it, but I cant access it as it says the site is down for maintenance. Il try again later.
He's aware Danny, he's posted an update on Facebook warning people not to click on the link that comes up. He has closed the site, and put a 'maintenance' mode on, whatever that means. He's still contactable by email though, [email protected]

Good to hear it is all sorted now.

Cheers.
